UEFA Futsal Champions League elite round starts 29 November Futsal Champions League

Futsal earned the status of FIFA’s official form of indoor soccer in the 1980s as it was recognized as a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors. It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.

It is played between two teams who each have five players on the pitch at any one time, with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball than soccer that is harder and less bouncy. Each half lasts 20 minutes, with a clock that stops whenever the ball is out of play; both coaches can also call a one-minute time-out each at any point in either half. In UEFA knockout games, other than third-place play-offs,, the matches can go to extra time, comprising two periods of five minutes. If scores are level after 50 minutes (or 40 in the third-place play-off), a penalty shoot-out will ensue from the six-metre mark. In a recent change to the FIFA laws, the shoot-out will now consist of five kicks each before any sudden death, back up from three.

Soccer is a beautiful game that combines athleticism, strategy, teamwork and skill. My goal with this blog is to share everything I have learned about soccer over the years being a player, assistant and soccer dad. The running speed of a soccer player is directly proportional to the performance in a game . Soccer is one sport that strongly relies on the physical capacity… You cannot kick a ball from out of bounds directly into the goal and score. However, once you pass the ball to another player, it is in play as usual. Players are dismissed for two yellow cards or a direct red, and take no further part in the action.

In particular, it was the Brazilian journalist José Antônio Inglêz who passionately contributed to the rapid spread of the game, as well as being credited as the man who coined the name “futsal”. Futsal started in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani, a teacher in Montevideo, Uruguay, created a version of indoor football for YMCAs. The small amount of space means players must have great technique and skill. “It’s making memories. I don’t think, especially some of Byron’s deaf friends, who he plays futsal with, should not have that opportunity just because of funding. Barça, Benfica, Kairat and 2023 runners-up Sporting CP are past winners. The top three-ranked associations have two teams qualify.

A standard match consists of two equal periods of 20 minutes. The length of either half is extended to allow penalty kicks to be taken or a direct free kick to be taken against a team that has committed more than five fouls. The interval between the two halves cannot exceed 15 minutes. The kit is made up of a jersey or shirt with sleeves, shorts, socks, shinguards made out of metal, plastic or foam, and shoes with rubber soles. The goalkeeper is allowed to wear long trousers and a different coloured kit to distinguish themself from the other players on the team and the referee. The goalkeeper is also allowed to wear elbow pads because the surface is about as hard as a tennis court or basketball court.

Teams must have a minimum of 3 players to play a game. It’s action-packed with more goals than traditional soccer.

The length of the field is in the range of 38–42 m (125–138 ft), and the width is in the range of 20–25 m (66–82 ft) in international matches. The “standard” size court for an international is 40 m × 20 m (131 ft × 66 ft) . It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. A teacher, Juan Carlos Ceriani, developed the new game as a recreational indoor soccer game to play in gyms or basketball courts in YMCAs.

As with soccer, use your feet to move the ball down the field toward the goal. If the ball goes out of bounds, kick it back into play. In some competitions, the game cannot end in a draw, so away goals, extra time and kicks from the penalty mark are the three methods for determining the winner after a match has been drawn.
